Flashcards — IRA-H Area VIII Postflight Procedures (Lesson 21)

POST
When to record an in-flight anomaly?
Right after shutdown, while it's fresh — clear enough that the next pilot/maintenance understands the symptom.
POST
What to capture postflight?
Flags, erratic/lagging instruments, comm/nav anomalies, GPS integrity/database messages, autopilot misbehavior.
RECS
Key recurring IFR inspections?
Pitot-static/altimeter & transponder (recurring); recorded VOR equipment check when using VOR for IFR. Confirm intervals (91.411/91.413/91.171).
RECS
VOR check record contents?
Error/result, date, place, and signature.
RECS
GPS/RNAV for IFR — record?
Current navigation database cycle required; confirm and log per your operation.
RISK
Postflight failure mode?
Silence — not documenting the anomaly and passing a marginal aircraft to the next pilot.
GO/NO
Lapsed required IFR inspection?
Don't dispatch IFR until resolved; document and fix.
R44
Where are shutdown/postflight items?
R44 POH Section 4 (Normal Procedures — Shutdown); records per your operation & airframe logs. R44 normally VFR-only — verify applicable IFR records.
