One-Pager — IRA-H Area VII Emergency Operations (Lessons 19–20)

Loss of communications (14 CFR 91.185)

Fly the aircraft → confirm failure → squawk 7600 → try alternate radios/relay.
VFR conditions: continue VFR, land as soon as practicable.
IMC route — AVEF: Assigned, Vectored, Expected, Filed.
IMC altitude: highest of Assigned / Expected / MEA, by segment.
Begin the approach at the EFC time (or near your ETA); stay predictable.

Approach with loss of primary flight instruments

Identify the failure (vacuum AI/HI, or PFD/AHRS). Cross-check: the lone disagreeing instrument is the suspect.
Build a scan from survivors/standby/reversionary; small smooth inputs.
Pick the simplest achievable approach (often GPS/LNAV); declare for priority; configure early; brief the miss.
Don't press a hard approach — a safe arrival beats a graceful one.
