One-Pager — IRA-H Area II Preflight Procedures (Lessons 04–05)

Pitot-static: airspeed (pitot + static), altimeter & VSI (static only). Blocked static → altimeter freezes, VSI zero, airspeed unreliable; use the alternate static source if equipped.
Attitude/heading: vacuum/electric gyros or solid-state AHRS; the magnetic compass is the unpowered backup.
Compass errors: ONUS (Overshoot North / Undershoot South on turns); ANDS (Accelerate-North / Decelerate-South).
Know which instruments share a power source — one failure can drop several at once.

Generator/alternator · Radios · Attitude indicator · Ball (slip/skid) · Clock · Altimeter (adjustable) · Rate-of-turn · Directional gyro.
Inspections for IFR: VOR check ≤ 30 days (if using VOR); altimeter/pitot-static and transponder each ≤ 24 calendar months.

Altimeter set & within tolerance of field elevation; attitude & heading erect/aligned; heading agrees with compass.
Turn/slip and VSI sensible; nav/comm radios, GPS database currency, and transponder verified; during taxi, turn indicator & compass swing correctly.
Any required item inop or any check lapsed = no-go. Don't rationalize "it worked last flight."
